Hospitalization/ Continuing Care
Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care has a staff of highly experienced veterinarians, veterinary technicians and assistants who will be taking very special care of your pet. The doctors confer twice daily on all hospitalized pets and your pet may be under the care of more than one doctor. Doctor/staff rounds occur at 8:00 am and 5:00 pm daily.
You may call the hospital after 10:00 am and after 8:00 pm to discuss your pet’s progress. If the doctor is not available to take your call, a technician who is familiar with your pet will be able to speak with you directly.
While in the hospital, we can provide the following advanced life support services and treatments: fluid therapy, oxygen therapy, pain management, blood transfusions, nutritional management, cardiac resuscitation, defibrillation and post resuscitation care and ventilator support. While under our care, your pet will be monitored closely. We have the capability to monitor blood pressure, continuous electrocardiogram, blood parameters, and oxygen saturation.
Please be assured that your pet will receive the best care possible. We take our responsibility to care for your pet very seriously and do everything we can to make your pet as comfortable as possible.
